Conquering Fear and Stepping Out in Faith
Fear is something we all face, whether it's starting a new project, making a big decision, or managing the overwhelming demands of homesteading. In my first podcast episode, I explore this universal topic, sharing my personal journey with anxiety and how faith, prayer, and intentional action have helped me overcome it.
Key Points:
Fear Doesn’t Come From God: The Bible reminds us that fear is not from the Lord. Verses like 2 Timothy 1:7 ("For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control") and Isaiah 41:10 ("Fear not, for I am with you") encourage us to lean on God’s strength and trust His plan, even when stepping into the unknown feels overwhelming.
Faith is a Choice: Faith often requires action before clarity. Like walking through fog, we may only see the next step, not the entire path. Trusting God with each step is a muscle we build over time, and the more we practice, the stronger it becomes.
Practical Steps to Overcome Fear: Surround Yourself with Scripture: Write Bible verses on cards and place them around your home, or even directly on surfaces, like I did in my milk room. Seeing these daily reminders can ground you in truth during moments of doubt.
Personalize the Word: Rewriting scripture to include your name makes it deeply personal. For example, Philippians 4:13 becomes, "I can do all things through Him who strengthens Amanda."
Prayer and Intentional Action: Turning to God in prayer and stepping forward in faith, even when it’s scary, can bring immense peace. Whether it’s starting a garden, teaching your kids new skills, or simply tackling the day’s tasks, ask for God’s guidance and trust His timing.
Fear may feel isolating, but you’re not alone. God’s Word is filled with encouragement for every step of the journey. If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, start with one verse, one prayer, or one action—and trust that God will meet you there.
